Drawing a Cartoon Magician
Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Select squeeze form the custom warp preset on the top bar. Apply settings as shown.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Create an ellipse over the hat shape. Press Ctrl+Alt+G to create clipping mask. Apply a gradient overlay style.
Create a horizontal rounded rectangle for the flap of the hat. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Select arc from the custom shape presets. Apply settings as shown.
Apply stoke layer style.
Create an ellipse for the face of the magician using elliptical shape tool.
Enable add to shape area from the top bar.
Create a couple of circles for the ear using elliptical shape tool.
Apply stroke layer style.
Create two concentric circles for the eye. Duplicate the eye and place it on the other side.
Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. Place it for the moustache.
Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.
Create two ellipse for the mouth using elliptical shape tool.
Create nose and ear using brush tool.
Create one half of the magician’s coat using pen tool.
Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select flip horizontal.
Create long collar using pen tool. Fill with a different color.
Create rounded rectangle for his shirt and use pen tool to create his legs. Move the layer below all layers in layer order in layer palette.
Create neck bow and a thin belt and place appropriately.
Use pen tool to create boots.
Create an ellipse for the hand using elliptical shape tool.
Create a rounded rectangle for the finger using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Duplicate the finger 4 times and place as shown.
Similarly create hand on the other side.
Create a rectangle for the magician’s stick using rectangular shape tool.
Create a circle using elliptical shape tool. Place the circle on the top of the magician’s stick.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Select and merge all the layers. Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select distort. Adjust nodes to create perspective shadow.
Fill the background with a gradient.

3D Logo Creation and Animation
Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Press Ctrl+T. Rotate it 45°.
Create an elliptical selection using elliptical marquee tool.
Create a new layer. Apply black to white gradient in linear mode.
Select eraser tool. Enable a big feathered brush settings and erase the lower portion of the ellipse.
Change the layer mode to linear burn.
Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select rotate 90°.
Using custom shape tool create a male symbol.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Select and merge all layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Scale down horizontally. Hide original layer.
Similarly create another duplicate. Press Ctrl+T. Scale down horizontally. Hide original layer.
Repeat the steps to create another scale down duplicate.
Open animation window. For the first frame hide all layers except the original one.
Duplicate frame Hide original layer and unhide the second one.
Similarly create successive frames and keep hiding/unhiding layers as shown.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to save an optimized animated GIF.

Baby’s Day Out

Baby’s Day Out
Start by opening an image of television.
Insert another image of a baby.
Scale down the image to the television size. Duplicate layer and hide it.
Hide the baby layer. Select the screen of the television using rectangular marquee tool.
Unhide the baby layer.
Select the baby layer and enable create layer mask from the layer palette.
Create selection of the baby using lasso tool.
Press Ctrl+Shift+I to invert the selection. Press delete.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
